Once you’ve been accepted into the Underdog.io candidate network, you will be prompted to finalize your Candidate Profile. Your Candidate Profile is what organizations in our network will see when they browse our Candidate batches. The bulk of your profile will be pre-populated, based on the information you provided in your initial application, however, you can make adjustments and additions to your profile here if you'd like. We recommend making your profile as robust as possible to increase proactive engagement from companies in our network. To begin, select the ‘Profile’ tab. Here, you’ll see several fields you can adjust:
Summary - We recommend that all Candidates write a brief professional summary. This will help prospective employers to understand what you’re looking for in your next position, and is an opportunity for you to share a bit more about your personality and interests. If you need help writing a professional summary, consult our article How to Write a Good Professional Summary for some tips and tricks.
Basic Information - In this section, you’ll see your name, your current title, and your current company, pre-populated based on the information provided in your initial application. You can adjust these fields as needed. You will also find that we’ve pre-filled your email address. If you’d like to make any adjustments to this field, please contact community@underdog.io. You will also have the opportunity to select any companies you’d like us to hide your information from. We recommend adding any current and former employers to this list.
Job Search - These fields will allow you to share your Ideal Roles (i.e. the positions you are considering) and your years of experience in each position. We pre-populate this information based on your selections in your initial application, but you can make any necessary adjustments here. Once you’ve added an Ideal Role, you’ll be prompted to select your years of experience relevant to that position from the drop-down.
Links and Resume - If you shared a link to your LinkedIn, Website, and/or Portfolio at signup, you'll find the link(s) pre-populated in your profile. If you opted to not share additional links in your application, we recommend including one to add depth to your profile and increase your chances of being contacted You will also find that we’ve also attached a copy of your resume to your profile. If you’d like to replace this file, you can upload a new PDF utilizing the ‘Upload’ link. The maximum file size for this PDF document is 5MB.
Salary and Diversity Information - These fields are optional, but we encourage you to utilize them if you feel comfortable doing so. To choose a target annual salary, select the appropriate range from the drop-down. This range will appear on your profile and will be shared with prospective employers in the Underdog.io network.
If you identify as a member of an underrepresented demographic in tech because of race, ethnicity, biological sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, or disability, you can also elect to self-identify here. Those candidates who choose “I identify as a candidate from an underrepresented demographic in tech” will be tagged with ‘Diversity’ on their Candidate Profile. For more information about technology, diversity, and diverse hiring, we recommend reading Diversity in Tech FAQ v0.1 by Nicole Sanchez.
